Northwest Community College (NWCC) invites applications in order to create a pool of qualified candidates to instruct Cultural Resource Management (CRM) in the School of Exploration & Mining (SEM) on an on-call basis as required. The on-call period will commence April 1, 2017 and end March 31, 2018. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale or Camp day rates.
Duties: Provide instruction for CRM modules on an on-call basis for camp-based or campus-based programs. Plan, teach and carry out other functions related to instructing with focus on hands-on, learner-centred, experiential learning and field based training which includes culturally appropriate activities on and off site.
A minimum 5 years of related experience along with Grade 12 or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Anthropology, Archeology or a related field. Assets include Provincial Instructor Diploma courses and/or the Instructional Skills Workshop; valid Class 4 driver’s license; WHMIS, TDG and WorkSafeBC® first aid certificates. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
The successful candidate must demonstrate:
- Expert knowledge and experience with cultural resource management and assessment including both theoretical knowledge and applied work experience
- Relevant knowledge of the natural resource industry
- Excellent communication, teaching, planning and assessment skills
- The ability to work in a dynamic team environment
- The ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment and provide instruction for students who may experience barriers to learning
