Northwest Community College (NWCC), Prince Rupert campus, invites applications for auxiliary on-call Instructors in our Career and College Preparation (CCP) program. The on-call period will commence as soon as possible and end April 23, 2017 (as required). Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.
Duties: Provide back-up coverage for the regular instructors. Responsibilities include: facilitate learning for students in the CCP program and complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities. The program is offered in various formats, including multi-level self-paced, instructor-led or mixed with distance or online options which may require the use of distance technology (video, online) for instruction and/or evenings.
Courses include: Science, English, Math, and Computer Studies. (Please note which courses you are applying to teach in your cover letter)
- A Bachelor's degree in a closely related discipline
- Additional post-secondary education in education or teaching, (e.g. A Master’s Degree in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching Certificate or, a Provincial Instructor's Diploma)
- Teaching experience in an Adult Basic Education / Career and College Prep program (preference will be given to those with experience teaching Advanced/Provincial level English)
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and experience in the subject areas. As a team player and learner-centered instructor, experience should demonstrate excellent group facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to student success and awareness of the barriers the students may face is required, along with a demonstrated ability to foster a motivational learning environment for a diverse student base.
