Job Description and Duties 

Northwest Community College (NWCC), Terrace campus, invites applications for an auxiliary on-call term Instructor in our Career and College Preparation (CCP) program. This appointment begins September 4, 2018 and ends April 26, 2019 and includes a maximum of 25 instructional hours per week.  Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.

Duties:  Facilitate learning for students in the CCP program in all subject areas and levels, and complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities. The program is offered in various formats, including self-paced, instructor-led or mixed with distance or online options which may require the use of distance technology (video, online) for instruction. CCP courses are self-paced multi-level.



  • A Bachelor's degree in a closely related discipline
  • Additional post-secondary education in education or teaching, (e.g. A Master’s Degree in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching Certificate or, a Provincial Instructor's Diploma)
  • Teaching experience in an Adult Basic Education / Career and College Prep program (preference will be given to those with experience teaching Advanced/Provincial level Math/Science)
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and experience in the subject areas. As a team player and learner-centered instructor, experience should demonstrate excellent group facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to student success and awareness of the barriers the students may face is required, along with a demonstrated ability to foster a motivational learning environment for a diverse student base.
