Northwest Community College (NWCC), Terrace campus, invites applications for an auxiliary on-call instructor in the Heavy Mechanical program. This appointment will commence September 11, 2017 on end June 30, 2018. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor scale.
Duties: In the absence of the regular instructor, teach, ensure shop safety and provide oversight, maintain the curriculum and examinations along with other functions related to Instructing in the Heavy Mechanical program.
In addition to the on-call appointment, there will also be a term position in the Heavy Mechanical – Level 2 Apprenticeship program starting March 5, 2018 to April 27, 2018 for 240 hours (subject to minimum enrollment).
A Journeyperson Certificate with the Red Seal (Interprovincial) endorsement and Grade 12 or equivalent. Experience includes a minimum of 5 years’ varied field experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician and 5 years in a supervisory capacity, either as Supervisor or Superintendent. A Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and mentor learners of a variety of ages
- Intermediate computer skills (word processing, excel, email)
- Willingness to embrace the characteristics of our strategic plan (adventurous, transformative, and integrity) and apply them to teaching
