AUXILIARY TERM CARPENTRY INSTRUCTOR - FRIDAY TRADES SCHOOL (Terrace) - EXTENDED CLOSING DATE

Job Description and Duties 

(Subject to minimum enrollment)

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for an auxiliary Carpentry Instructors in the Friday Trades School program (subject to minimum enrollment). The appointment will commence as soon as possible and end June 30, 2019 for 66 instructional hours. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.

Duties:  Facilitate learning for students (high-school aged) in an introductory Carpentry program (through in-class and practical skills) and complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities along with other duties as required.

Qualifications 

A Grade 12 diploma or equivalent and comprehensive knowledge and experience in a carpentry shop setting with an emphasis on safety procedures. Preferences include formal trades training, a Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification, and teaching experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required skills and abilities include:

  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and facilitation skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and mentor learners of a variety of ages
  • Willingness to embrace the characteristics of our strategic plan (adventurous, transformative, and integrity) and apply them to teaching
