Northwest Community College (NWCC), Terrace campus, invites applications for an auxiliary term Automotive Service Technician Instructor. This position will include 210 hours of instruction commencing April 16, 2018 and ending June 1, 2018 (subject to minimum enrolment). New instructors are eligible for up to 70 hours of preparation/orientation immediately prior (April 3-13, 2018) to the program start date. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.
Duties: Facilitate learning, oversee and ensure shop safety, maintain the Industry Training Authority curriculum and examinations in the Automotive Service Technician Level 3 program, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required.
Journeyperson Certification with the Red Seal (Interprovincial) endorsement and Grade 12 or equivalent. Experience should include a minimum of 5 years’ varied field experience as a Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician and 5 years in a supervisory capacity either as a Foreman or Superintendent. A Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Require skills/abilities include:
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and mentor learners of a variety of ages
- Intermediate computer skills (word processing, excel, email)
- Willingness to embrace the characteristics of our strategic plan (adventurous, transformative, and integrity) and apply them to teaching
