AUXILIARY TERM INSTRUCTOR - CAREER & COLLEGE PREPARATION (Prince Rupert)

Job Description and Duties 

(Subject to minimum enrollment)

Northwest Community College (NWCC), Prince Rupert campus, invites applications for an auxiliary term Instructor in our Career and College Preparation (CCP) program. This appointment begins as soon as possible and ends June 1, 2017. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.

Duties:  Facilitate learning for students in CCP multi-level Fundamental Math 025-026 and English 023-026 (mixed instructor-led and self-paced) and complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities. This course will be delivered Tuesday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am for a total of 27 instructional hours.

Qualifications 
  • A Bachelor's degree in a closely related discipline
  • Additional post-secondary education in education or teaching, (e.g. A Master’s Degree in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching Certificate or, a Provincial Instructor's Diploma)
  • Teaching experience in an Adult Basic Education / Career and College Prep program (preference will be given to those with experience teaching Advanced/Provincial level Math)
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and experience in Math and English. As a team player and learner-centered instructor, experience should demonstrate excellent group facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to student success and awareness of the barriers the students may face is required, along with a demonstrated ability to foster a motivational learning environment for a diverse student base.
