Northwest Community College (NWCC), Terrace Campus, invites applications for an auxiliary Math Instructor in our Career and College Preparation (CCP) program. The appointment will commence September 1, 2017 and end December 15, 2017 for self-paced 120 hours. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.
Duties: Facilitate learning for students in the CCP Math 0401/0402 and complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities. The class schedule is: Tuesdays – 5:00pm to 8:30pm; Thursdays – 1:00pm to 4:00pm; and Fridays 3:30pm to 5:30pm (for a total of 8.5 self-paced hours per week).
- A Bachelor's degree in a closely related discipline with a significant number of Math courses taken at the undergraduate level
- Additional post-secondary education or training in teaching (e.g. A Master’s Degree in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching certificate, or a Provincial Instructor's Diploma) is preferred
- Teaching experience in Math at the grade 11 level in an accredited program that leads to a provincially-recognized certificate
- Willingness to embrace the characteristics of our strategic plan (adventurous, transformative, and integrity) and apply them to teaching
The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence, and experience in the subject area. As a team player and learner-centered instructor, experience should demonstrate excellent group facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to student success and awareness of the barriers the students may face is required, along with a demonstrated ability to foster a motivational learning environment for a diverse student base.
