Unlimited borrowing from the College library
There is no limit on the number of items you may borrow from the College library. You may request loans online in the library's catalogue. Look for the "Request loan" link in your search results. Please note that you must know your PIN in order to request loans. Don't know your PIN? Please ask us.
Extended loan periods
Extended loans are available upon request.
Does another library own what you need? We can get it for you. Request interlibrary loans here, in person, by phone, or e-mail. You may follow the "Where can I get this?" link in the library's article databases to request copies of journal, magazine or newspaper articles.
Library orientations and instruction
If you expect your students to use library resources in their coursework, students will benefit from a library orientation session and instruction in the use of library research tools tailored to students' assignments. Orientation and instruction sessions may be scheduled to fit your schedule.
Off-campus access to licensed resources
The library licenses hundreds of electronic resources: databases, e-books, streaming videos. Access is restricted to the College's students and employees. Off-campus users must login with their student or employee number and last name. If you are denied access, please report the problem to the library.
Google Scholar's "Read it @ NWCC" link
Watch for the "Read it @ NWCC" link in your Google Scholar search results. The link leads to full text in the library's licensed databases. If you're off-campus, please access Google Scholar here.
BC's college and university libraries provide a chat assistance service for students and staff. You'll find the AskAway chat widget on our website and in many of our databases. AskAway is often open for your convenience when the library is closed.
You may leave assigned readings in the library. The loan period is determined by you.
Journal alerts and search alerts
EBSCO and ProQuest databases allow you to create journal alerts and search alerts to stay current in your field or interests. Find out how for EBSCO databases and ProQuest databases.
