Library Services for Students

Help
Library staff are here to help you. Can't find anything to help with your course work? Not sure how to cite something? We can help. Look for the library's chat box on our website and in many of our databases. Or contact us here, in person, by phone, or e-mail.

AskAway help
BC's college and university libraries provide a chat assistance service for students. You'll find the AskAway chat widget on our website and in many of our databases. AskAway is often open for your convenience when the library is closed.

Unlimited borrowing from the College library
There is no limit on the number of items you may borrow from the College library. You may request loans online in the library's catalogue. Look for the "Request loan" link in your search results. Please note that you must know your PIN in order to request loans. Don't know your PIN? Please ask us.

Loan renewals
You may request loan renewals in person, by phone, by e-mail or online.

Interlibrary loans
Does another library own what you need? We can get it for you. Request interlibrary loans here, in person, by phone, or e-mail. You may follow the "Where can I get this?" link in the library's article databases to request copies of journal, magazine or newspaper articles.

NWCC's Bike Share Program
Did you know that you can now check out a bike from our Terrace Campus library? All that you need is a NWCC library card and you can check out a bicycle for on- or off-campus riding. Our bike was donated through an employee leadership training program and we have helmets and locks donated from Canadian Tire.  If you have a bike you'd like to give to NWCC, we are currently accepting donations to add to our bicycle fleet. Check it out today.

Beyond books
Students at NWCC can borrow snowshoes, fishing rods, bikes, DVDs, tablets and laptops from the library to make the most of their experience in the Northwest. Ask us about this today.

Off-campus access to licensed resources
The library licenses hundreds of electronic resources: databases, e-books, streaming videos. Access is restricted to the College's students and employees. Off-campus users must login with their student or employee number and last name. If you are denied access, please report the problem to the library.

Services for off-campus students
The library pays for the delivery and return of anything you borrow.

Mission statement
A centre of the College community, our Library supports excellence in teaching, student success, and lifelong learning, through the provision of a diverse range of quality resources and services.
